（转载）2012年9月22日托福考试范文：Although new technology and science will continue to advance and improve people’s life, the most significant improvement has been made.

The applications of science and technology can be seen almost everywhere in our lives. It is nearly impossible for modern people to live without things such as electricity, running water, and automobile, etc. However,While enormous improvements have been made, there are still many aspects of people’s lives that need to be improved by the ever-changing science and technology.

Admittedly, scientific achievements have already ameliorated people’s lives. It is evident that life today is much more efficient and convenient than before. With the inventions of telephone and internet, people are able to communicate directly with others regardless to time and place. My mother told me that decades ago it took a few weeks to send a letter to people in another city, not to mention sending letters abroad. Thanks to the benign monster called telecommunication, now I can contact with my friend, Stephanie who is in America,instantaneously. Yet，Remarkable as these changes are, many issues are yet to be solved by new technology and science.

First, some diseases need new scientific study urgently so as to be cured. There is no cure for diseases like diabetes, cancers, and AIDS. If the study advances to a certain degree in these arenas and effective medicines are produced, tens of millions of people’s lives may be saved. Already some progresses have been made in finding cure for AIDS. Let’s suppose that further advancement can be achieved by the scientists. Fewer HIV-positive kids will die of it. Therefore, in the field of medicine, people should accelerate their pace in scientific study.

In addition, new science and technology can be applied in improving the living environment of people. When people focus on economic development, sometimes they ignore the environmental protection. Consequently, many parts of the world are facing problems such as air pollution, greenhouse effect, and less clean water. If there is a device which can completely eliminate the carbon dioxide released by the car, the environment would be much better. It is the same with other environmental problems. Technology has had negative influences on the environment so it is high time that people use new technology to save the environment.

I concede that many scientific and technological achievements have made people’s lives better, but the lives today are not perfect, new accomplishments in science and technology will make people’s lives more healthy and efficient.
